The Saturday Beat

Well that week wasn't supposed to be so busy. Here's some beats to make up for it.

Deep thumping tech beats.

Funky fun from a pretty solid album

Groovin' soul mid set dancin' beats. FREE download!

Lounge style sexy swinger beats.

Proper jazzy jackin' beauty.

Bouncy disco glitch tech. Lovin' this one. FREE download!

Deep and delicious, with a side of smoooooth.

Easily the best remix of this track.

Late night deepness personified.

Deerhoof - Exit Only

New punk stuff. Grungy, loud, not bad. Cool video too.

The Offspring - Bad Habit

'Smash' remains one of my favorite albums from the '90s. To hear what they moved on to is just... well... their priorities definitely changed, let's put it that way.

Millencolin - Kemp

I kinda like the original version a little better, but this one got the video so there it is.

Metallica - Orion

Some proper HD. God these guys were good.

Danzig - Am I Demon

It's ludicrous how hard it is to find any high quality Danzig videos.

Pantera - Walk

Metal Monday! Let's do it classic style. This one goes out to Richie.

The Saturday Beat

The double deuce!

Some bumpin' techno to get things started.

Let's keep that vibe goin'.

Now we got it down.

Little more upbeat now.

Back to the basics.

It's getting a bit intense, time for a breather.

Back in biznaaaaassss!

Now make it funky! (FREE DOWNLOAD!)

It's getting late, better deep it down a bit.

Now slow it waaaaay doooown and sign things off.

Theophilus London - Tribe

If you dig this, check out his older stuff. It's better.

Joi Cardwell & Pete Grace - Indian Giver

A little more wordy, but nice and bouncy. Ideal for night time city driving.

Cleavage - Need Someone

Right, it's early. May'sll start the dancing. This is like new school old school '90s. Sick.

Jimmy Fallon & The Roots - Desire

Might as well post the song that inspired this whole shindig. Great job Jimmy.

Sepultura - Bullet The Blue Sky

I love this cover. Captures the feel, and ups the angry. Kickass.

Saul Williams - Sunday Bloody Sunday

So it was supposed to be U2 week on the Tonight Show, but Bono broke himself so it got cancelled. I'm not really concerned, I don't watch the show and don't really listen to much U2 these days, but I do enjoy their older stuff and figured why not, let's have a U2 day. Lo and behold I conveniently came across this cover that I completely forgot about. If the production sounds NIN-ish, it's because it is. Trent Reznor did the beats, Saul did the vocals. It's what they do best.

Red Fang - Crows In Swine

This is another re-post. I really don't like doing that, but I will make the rare exception where it's warranted. In this case the new video is too dope not to shine its awesomeness on the blog. My only complaint is that it should have been released ages ago, then I wouldn't have had to re-post it. But wait... maybe that was... have I been duped?!?

Dope Body - Repo Man

These guys are new to me, but man are they awesome. So pleased to find a proper grunge band that isn't from mid-90s Seattle. Think they could afford to the boost the vocals a bit in the mix. They're a bit clouded by the guitars. Great sound though.

Monster Magnet - The Duke

Super busy weekend, so things didn't quite happen on here. That's ok, because that means Steve got a little more front page action. So let's do an unofficial Metal Monday. Unofficial because these songs aren't really metal, but they are loosely affiliated. I mean come on. Monster Magnet? Sounds pretty metal to me. Stoner rock at the very least. And hey, the video is dope as hell.

Stephen Lewis - Just A Little Shy

This is Steve. Steve is a great guy from Fredericton. Today is Steve's birthday. Steve would like you to listen to his story, and then he will sing you a song. Nice work Steve.

Run The Jewels - Run The Jewels

These guys are awesome. Get the new album. Get the old album. Do it. Do it now.

The Mouse Outfit - Sit Back

This one is serious chill, reminds me of A Tribe Called Quest. Yeah buddy.

Dilated Peoples - Show Me The Way

Thanks for remembering peoples. Now let's get back to the crazy bizarro world we live in today. Like it or love it, at least we've all got choices. Today I choose hip hop.

Joseph Kilna MacKenzie - Sgt. MacKenzie

It's Remembrance Day, and this is always the song that comes to mind for me. Haunting stuff, and this is actually a repost, but the one I posted four years ago was just a crappy audio link that's since been chopped, so here's one with some war footage to go with it.

Elliott Brood - Nothing Left

I've seen these guys a few times live, and they're always a great show. Actually didn't realise they were from Toronto, for some reason I thought they were from the west. How about that then. All three bands today from Ontario. Wasn't even intentional.

The Flatliners - Tail Feathers

Here's another great Canadian band, also out of Ontario.

Constantines - Soon Enough

Yesterday was impossibly busy. Today close to the same, though it's involved a lot of sitting and typing. Anyway these guys are awesome and it's great that they toured again this year. I hope they make another album some day.

The Saturday Beat

Time for some much needed beats!

Nice melodic late night big roomer.

Love this one. Groovy rolling house action.

Another killer new classic house vibe.

Juicy funk soul sweetness to the max.

Old school breaks! Just because they're awesome.

Die Antwoord - Ugly Boy

I don't even really listen to these cats anymore but they're so nutso I just feel obligated to post their videos. Like if I don't Yolandi and Ninja are gonna come get me. It's a little weird, I know.

Buck 65 - Shutterbuggin'

Can't really get into the new album, but I can still dig the old goodies.

Foreign Beggars vs Alix Perez - Modus

So my interwebs were down yesterday, and today I got it working by restarting the FibreOP modem. No thanks to Bell for the craptacular service. Now let's celebrate with some traptacular beats. See what I did there? Ha.

Goldroom - Till Sunrise

Chilled, not frozen.

Austra - Hulluu

So "hulluu" is Finnish for "crazy things". That explains everything.

Emily King - Distance

Ya, so my updates from Toronto didn't quite happen. Oh well. I'm back, recovered, and ready to get down to business. Only about 8 weeks or so left in this year, which just seems crazy to me. It also means snow is on the way. I'm not ready to freeze!
