Primus - Lee Van Cleef

Now for something completely random. New Primus!

The best song intro ever? Could be.

Jimi Hendrix - Hear My Train A Comin

Legendary.

Wynton Marsalis Quintet - Autumn Leaves

Here's some a little more modern.

Wes Montgomery - Round Midnight

A little bluesy jazz for ya.

Pink elephants on parade

I think somebody spiked Dumbo's drink. Watch in HD!

Miss America Pageant circa 1920s

Oh how times have changed.

A classic funeral eulogy

If there ever was one. This is John Cleese at Graham Chapman's funeral. Brilliant.

Mike Bost has had enough

Too bad there aren't more like him who actually care about what they're doing.

Bryan Raydio - Oscilliscape

...aaaand here's the "video" for the title track. It's a re-hash of the old one I posted a couple years ago, but I've switched the audio. Just there so I have it on YouTube. The second video is done, and I'll be uploading it in a bit, so it'll either be up here later tonight or by tomorrow morning.

Bryan Raydio - Oscilliscape EP

Let's try this again. I kinda released this one a couple years ago, but didn't like how it sounded and truth be told didn't really have a handle on the mixing and mastering side of things. After spending a lot of time learning new tricks and some proper skills, I think I'm a bit closer now. Enough to re-release this EP anyway. You can preview each track on Soundcloud, download the individual tracks from there, or download the whole EP from the link below. Enjoy.

Inside The Actors Studio - Dave Chappelle

I've been busy for the last few days. Busy doing not much, for the most part. Thankfully I've managed to sneak in a few hours on my own stuff, and with a little luck I'll have a finished original EP for you tomorrow. In the meantime check out my favorite episode of this series, it inspired me and hopefully it will inspire you too.

Coheed & Cambria - Mother Superior

This, ladies and gentlemen, is how it's done. Welcome back Josh.

Glimmermen - Travellin' Man

From Ireland come these fine gentlemen. They need to work on their recording quality, but I like their off-beat style.

Rival Sons - Face Of Light

Yup, these guys definitely have that classic Zeppelin-esque rock feel to them, but damn it they're good. Check out their latest offering.

Said The Whale - Camilo (The Magician)

Another groovy little tune with an animated video.

Gotye - Hearts A Mess

Look, it's official, they DO have another song... and it's pretty good!

Sweet Brown - Ain't Nobody Got Time For That

This is a great video remix of this hilarious news interview.

Estonian Dance Session

The crowd is pretty dull and I wasn't diggin' the hype man, but those are some slick moves. Reminds me of the good ol' days of Roxy Blu in Toronto. Awesome club with amazing dancers every night.

Just another day on the Russian freeway

So that's why they have speed limits!

Sébastien Tellier - Cochon Ville

Last one for today, as promised here's the second crazy video from Monsieur Tellier. WARNING: Extremely sexually suggestive and packed with nudity. Directed by madman Alex Courtès.

Wintersleep - In Came The Flood

Brand new video from one of Halifax's best musical exports.

Gossip - Move In The Right Direction

New video from Beth Ditto et al! Not even on YouTube yet!

Woodkid - Run Boy Run

Brand new epic video from this cat, pretty awesome.

Young Liars - Colours

This is a bit more indie than I usually post, but I like the electronic components. Hey, it's catchy, what can I say.

Hot Chip - Night & Day

Right, now on to some fresh music videos. Lots of cameos in this one!

Master of Lightning

Now I bet you're wondering, who's Nikola Tesla? Here, check this out. He's pretty damn cool.

Alex Jones vs Justin Bieber

This is a repost from over a year ago, but I just felt like it was worth another look/listen. Again not a big Alex Jones fan but this is an awesome edit by Fergus Breen.

The Leap

Whoa. Technological innovation is moving faaaast. I don't think I'd ever want to use this, being old fashioned and all, but still looks pretty cool for anyone who wants to feel like a jedi.

The Master

The new Paul Thomas Anderson movie! Looks awesome.

Skyfall

The new James Bond trailer!

Anchorman: The Legend Continues

Back from a fun weekend, with lots of new stuffs to post! Here's the first new trailer to check out!

Sébastien Tellier - Pépito Bleu

And I'll leave you with this one, the first of Mr. Tellier's crazy new conceptual videos. I'll post the second on Monday. Enjoy your weekend!

Symphony Of Science - We Are Star Dust

The latest of the John Boswell's ongoing series of musical tributes featuring past and contemporary scientists.

The Cinematic Orchestra - Manhatta

This is actually a soundtrack for the 1921 short silent film by Charles Sheeler and Paul Strand. Gotta say they did a fantastic job. Watch the whole thing, it's worth the eleven minutes.

NOTE: For some stupid reason the film company has taken this video down. Hopefully it'll be back up shortly, I'll repost it when it is.

WhoMadeWho - Inside World

Great acoustic jam from Copenhagen from these eclectic gentlemen.

Belleruche - Under Fire

She's got a great style, and her new album is pretty good too.

Planet Asia - Golden State

Phat track from an underrated rapper.

Club Des Belugas - All Aboard

Not an official video, but somehow it seemed somewhat fitting, and I had to fit that track in somehow.

Dr. John - Revolution

New track from the old master. Not quite his best stuff, but not too shabby. The backing band is kick-ass.

Matias Aguayo - Rollerskate

Trippy video and a trippy tune from a trippy dude.

Big Wreck - Wolves

Latest video from one of my favorite rock ensembles.

The Specials - Too Much Too Young

Classic track live from the Old Grey Whistle Test in 1979.

Saukrates - Say I

Hilarious intro to this one, here's some fresh hip hop out of Toronto for ya.

Sierra Leone's Refugee All-Stars - Kali

Some groovy African soul to start off our musical selection for the weekend.

Are we ready for the Age of Abundance?

This is almost a year old now, but still a relevant and fascinating discussion on the future of technology and its ramifications on business featuring Michio Kaku, Michael Schrage, Isabel Aguilera, and Peter Diamandis. Feel free to skip the 15 minute rambling introduction by Gabriel Byrne.

The Gift

This is a pretty sweet little Russian sci-fi short, directed by Carl Rinsch.

Barack Obama actually born in Kenya?

I hate to bring up this topic again, but Breitbart posted this little excerpt from a 1991 literary agency booklet. Ol' Barry's bio doesn't quite match with the one he's been touting lately. The whole story is here

Wall Street regulates congress

Bernie Sanders gives us the depressing truth.

Evacuated tube transport

Need to get to California on the quick? Just take the tube! Read more about this madness here.

Mother elephant saves baby from drowning

How to write a pop song

By Dave Grohl. Now get writing.

Boss Bacon Burger

Friday? How did we get to Friday already? Somehow I missed a day somewhere... Oh well here we are with the latest Epic Meal Time. Haven't watched one in a while, but I do love my burgers so I was stoked to check this out. I'm off on another adventure until Monday so here's some stuffs to keep you entertained.

Gramatik - So Much For Love

Some beats and breaks. Tight.

DVA - Madness

No sign of acoustics here, just electronic madness. Not even sure how to describe it. Electro r&b?

Reel Big Fish - Beer

The anthemic drinking song by the ska legends themselves, acoustic style.

Plants And Animals - Lightshow

Great band from Montreal, check them out if you get a chance.

Naudo Rodrigues - James Bond Theme

There's a new Bond film coming out this year, how about a little acoustic intro this time?

Your monitor resolution explained

What's better, 1080i or 720p? Benjamin Higginbotham is here to answer just that.

Choosing the right kitchen knife

Ignore the brand advertisement and turn your audio down. Lots of great culinary info here from Alton Brown.

The Antikythera Mechanism

Just another useless piece of junk from more than 2000 years ago. You know, when people were uncivilized brutes. They couldn't possibly have known anything about complex mathematics, or mechanics, or astronomy, or...

Fox hunting with a golden eagle

Mongolia. Where real men hunt with eagles.

Filming the opening crawl

I always wondered how they did that, and now we know.

100 amazing Darth Vader helmets

Here's just one example. Check out the rest here.

Rodney Dangerfield on the Ed Sullivan Show

From March 8, 1970. No respect.

Tim Shadbolt on 7 days

Mayor of Invercargill and local hero on a television comedy program. Wouldn't if be refreshing if we had a Canadian politician with a little charisma?

All hail the TSA

America must feel so safe with you watching over her...

Booker T. & The MG's - Green Onions

Was on the road on Friday, and spent yesterday recovering. Been a busy weekend and I'm beat, so here's some classic southern soul to hold you over until tomorrow. This one goes out to bass player Donald "Duck" Dunn who passed away in Tokyo earlier today. This is him in action circa the mid 1960's alongside his legendary band-mates Steve Cooper on guitar, Al Jackson on drums, and Booker T. Jones on the keys.

Coheed & Cambria - Somebody That I Used To Know

Oh look, somebody else covered this song, and it's awesome!

The Very Best - Yoshua Alikuti

Great new video out of Kenya!

Arcade Fire - Sprawl II

I'm not an Arcade Fire fan, but I'm diggin' this Soulwax remix.

Great video done by Carlos de Carvalho for a haunting song.

M83 - Midnight City

Wasn't really into their album so much, but this song is quality.

Robotic paraplegic support unit

Since we're on the topic of robots, check out this crazy support unit for paraplegics. Technology is opening all kinds of doors for modern medicine. Bring on the future!

Ze Jacqueshammer

Maybe Nigel could use one of these to break up the union!

Surviving the Robopocalypse

Given the appearance of most of the members of the European Parliament, I would argue that the robot uprising is already here...

Nigel Farage hails the revolution

Good ol' Nige is back to his best, here's his latest epic speech from May 9.

Blu-Ray Yellow Submarine

I was going to re-watch Yellow Submarine this week, just for fun, but then I saw that it's coming out on Blu-Ray on June 5! No digital re-scanning on this one either, all the restoration has been done by hand! I suppose I can justify the wait for quality...

Simian Mobile Disco - Seraphim

Here's the second new video from these guys. Great classic soulful house sound.

BONUS BEATS!

A Tribe Called Quest - Bonita Applebum [Sir Piers & Si Ashton Vocal Mix]

Marbert Rocel - Whether The Night

Super cool track from this group out of Germany. Love the video too.

Electric Wire Hustle - Waters

Thanks to Kimbra for the heads up on these cats out of New Zealand. Great soulful sound.

Grimes - Symphonia IX (My Wait Is U)

This is Claire Boucher out of Vancouver via Montreal. I'm not really sure what to think of her. I find a lot of her stuff to be a little... flat? I dunno, hit and miss. I don't mind this one though.

Belleruche - Stormbird

Time for some more music videos. I haven't heard the new album yet but I like the single.

A new angle on history

This is an extraordinary picture of an extraordinary moment in history. Can you recognize it? The full story is here if you get stumped. Try not to cheat by looking at the tags...

Chop Chop

Dang, I hate being late.

Words of wisdom from Ice T

Warning: this is not a pop video. If you are offended by words... you get the picture.

DJ Tech Tools Ableton Competition Winner

This might not mean anything to you un-tech-savvy folks out there, but believe me when I say that this is an awesome display of programming, arrangement, and a ton of practice. Mad respect to Riccardo Betti for this award-winning performance

Ross Capicchioni's Aberrican Me

This story is just ridiculous. Press play, trust me.

Simian Mobile Disco - Cerulean

Yes! New Simian Mobile Disco! This is the first of two of their new videos, I'll post the other tomorrow. Both are radically different and while I prefer this one, they're both good. I'm really diggin' this track and the crazy video is great too. Better spice it up with some bonus beat action too, just to finish off the day. Back tomorrow with more great tunes!

BONUS BEATS!

Lauer - Trainman [Tensnake's "Franceman" Remix]

Santigold - Disparate Youth

This is a great track. I was a fan of her before and I can't wait to listen to her new album. This track is kind of where I thought and hoped M.I.A. would go. Maybe there's still hope, and in the meantime this will do nicely.

CFCF - Exercise #3 (Building)

A great track from a rapidly expanding producer. Certainly one to keep your ear on.

Pretty Lights - You Get High

A regular feature on the blog, this one was released yesterday.

Flat Eric vs William Fichtner

Two screen "legends" go head to head in a little game of chess... and preview a new EP...

Here I Am!

I've returned from my long Irish sojourn intact! In my absence the world has evolved somewhat. It's warmer here in Halifax, Manchester City has toppled Manchester United from the top of the Premier League, Leinster and Ulster will do battle for Heineken Cup glory, the GOP race is down to Ron Paul vs Mitt Romney, Nicolas Sarkozy is no longer the president of France, T.E.E.D. has a new album on the way, and the Blogger interface has been updated! Oh how times have changed! Hahaha... prepare for new original music, and a new website that's taking longer than I had anticipated to get done. Need to get my energy levels back up. Coffee time!
