Disturbing police footage
I'm not really a fan of everyone having video cameras on their cell phones. It all just seems a bit excessive and overly voyeuristic. When you see footage like this, however, you think that maybe it's a good idea. I don't really know where I stand. What I do know, however, is that there are a lot of good police officers out there who really need to stand up to their asshole coworkers because these shitty cops are giving you all a bad name. Warning: very disturbing footage inside.

Billy Corgan vs Alex Jones
Figured I'd give everyone an extra day to absorb everything I posted on Monday. Here's another biggie for you. I'm not really a huge fan of Alex Jones, I think he's a sensationalist and I'm not into his presenting style, but he has a place in alternative media and I respect the work he does in trying to make people think. This is probably my favorite interview that I've seen him do, mostly because he just lets Billy talk and control most of the conversation.
I was a big fan of early Pumpkins stuff and while I don't always agree with Mr. Corgan, I think he's very intelligent and I think he presents himself very well here and explains his point of view very coherently. I tend to agree with most of what he's talking about here, and I think it's worth a listen if only to instigate conscious thought and debate about important societal issues.

Israel loves Iran
...and Iran loves Israel. This is a campaign that has been gathering strength. The ordinary citizens of Israel have no interest in war, and neither do the citizens of Iran. It's all a show, all political nonsense. This is why where are so many revolutions going on all over the world. People have had enough. Enough of the bullshit, can't we just live our lives? Thankfully the world of social media, for all its critics, has opened up opportunities for people to freely express positivity and broadcast it for all to see. Long may it continue.

RCMP raids the Conservatives
As I've become more interested in political policy in recent years, it has become more and more apparent that politics, in itself, is a complete charade. Why are so many people politically apathetic? It's not hard to understand when the actions of most career politicians are enough to make one physically ill. These clowns tell us to "stay in school" and "act responsibly", and then go and act like a bunch of monkeys flinging shit at each other. How did these people get in power, and why do we keep them there? Better yet, why do we allow anyone to wield such power, particularly when most of the time we don't even like the people in these positions?
It's baffling, frustrating, and comical all at the same time. Most days I wonder whether I should give up and let other people worry about it, but then I wonder what kind of people would want to? It's a vicious circle, and just makes me want to move to an island. All I need is a cool $3 million and I'm set...

Who is Joseph Kony?
Not a very nice fellow, apparently. EDIT: Seems the maker of this video might be questionable as well. Have we been duped? Read this.

The Great Awakening
You probably don't need to watch this, just another revolution video. It's a good one though, so maybe it's worth the four and a half minutes.

Kim Dotcom discusses his arrest
Megaupload supremo Kim Dotcom gives his first interview since being arrested in January. He's a bit of a dodgy character but he makes some very valid points about the nature of his arrest and the accusations made against him.

This is some pretty crazy footage from the city of Homs, Syria. Prior to the current uprising looked like this. Obviously there is some graphic footage included.

Former BC attorney generals want marijuana regulated
Both sides of Canadian politics have reared their heads this week. First it was the ugly side, with asshole of the week Vic Toews comparing those against unrestrained government control of the internet to child pornographers. Then it was the good side, with former BC attorney general Geoff Plant giving a very progressive and reasonable argument about legalizing and regulating marijuana. Too bad he's retired from politics. The ones who haven't retired yet are utterly incompetent.

Damien Echols freed from Memphis prison
One of the infamous "West Memphis Three" did this interview with Amy Goodman of Democracy Now, and I think it's worth a watch. This case is a particularly harrowing case of the American judicial system gone horribly, horribly wrong. A new documentary titled "West of Memphis" was just presented at the Sundance Film Festival to critical acclaim and the filmmakers hope to take the case back to court this year.

I don't agree with everything Charles says, but I absolutely support his right to blog and criticize. Grow a bigger spine, Fredericton Police. This is petty even by your standards.

Hitler reacts to SOPA
Remember when we used to see lots of these clips on the YouTube and then the movie company got mad and pulled them? Thank goodness we're over that crap. This is probably the best one I've seen.
By the way, if you haven't seen the movie that the footage comes from, "Downfall", I highly recommend it.

The Gay Rights Movement
There are different ways to look at the "gay issue", and for some reason some people don't seem to be able to understand or accept it, which is pretty stone-age in my view. How exactly is a gay man marrying another gay man threatening to my way of life?
It's totally ridiculous, but let's put that aside for a second. Let's also put religion aside for a second, because those kinds of religious views are also ridiculous. Let's look at this from a legal, economic standpoint. Married people get tax benefits. I don't agree with this at all, but it's a fact. Why should only straight people be allowed to marry and enjoy those benefits, and not gay people? If that isn't discrimination, I don't know what is.
As Clint Eastwood so eloquently puts it, let's just give everybody the chance to live the lives that they want. What's the harm in that?

Michael Franti & Spearhead - Oh My God
Oh My God! I have to go to Bonnaroo. This is my mission. There are many like it, but this one is mine. The lineup for this year's festival is probably the single greatest collection of un-freakin-believable talent I have ever seen. Amongst the ridiculousness is one of the great underrated acts in the world, and the title of the track I've chosen is highly appropriate. Say no more.
Any and all donations towards purchase of a ticket will be graciously accepted.
