Bryan Raydio - Into The Deep EP

So it's done. Finally. At last. This one has proved a major roadblock, but I'm through it. Now onto more, and much, much sooner. While it's been a good two years since I put out my last EP, it's actually been about four years since the very first incarnations of these tracks took shape. They've gone through countless edits and I was just never satisfied with them. After chipping away I'm finally where I can say I've had enough.

Production, mixing, and mastering was all done by me, mostly in FL Studio using various VSTs both native and external. The songs themselves are kind of a progressive-techno-IDM mix, I'm never really sure how to describe my stuff in terms of genre unless it's clear-cut. Definitely a darker feel to these ones, pretty intense, which isn't necessarily a reflection of my mood these days, it's just how the songs came out. Hopefully they don't scare anyone away!

I'd like to think I've made a few advances technically since the last release. Hopefully these tracks have a cleaner sound to them. I was pretty meticulous in the mixing stage and spent a lot of time making sure everything was EQ'd properly and in phase. That's not to say it will be perfect, because for all I know on some speakers they could sound crap, but after testing on my studio monitors, various headphones and ear buds, and the car stereo, they sound ok on my end at least. Do let me know if there are glaring errors.

One thing I did differently in the mastering stage this time was I left some air in the final cut. Those in the production business will have seen and heard countless tracks that are blasted and squashed and maximised to death. Some refer to it as the loudness war. I'm very conscious of it and after making a couple different versions, I much preferred to leave the volume down and leave the original dynamics. So at the final limiting stage I only compressed the peaks by maybe 1-1.5 db at the most, most of the time it wasn't compressing at all. If you have no idea what any of that means, don't worry about it. It just means you might have to turn up the volume a little bit if you want it real loud.

Now that these buggers are out of the way there will be more, and soon. I put out six EP's in 2012, I expect to have at least two or three more out this year. I'm going to leave this here for a couple days. Click on the album cover below to get to the download page. I'll get back to posting on Saturday.

Bryan Raydio - Choosing Altitude

It's taken the best part of a month to recover from the ridiculous Harvest Jazz festivities. Add to that many other calamities since and this blog has been strangely silent. Time to fix that again, especially since there's so little time to fit in great new music before the year-end best-of countdown!

I was hoping to have a full EP ready for today, but alas it's not quite there yet so here's a song from another upcoming EP. It's kind of a funky synth-heavy chillwave experimental joint. Enjoy.

Bryan Raydio - Cuatro Veinte EP

At last! I recently improved my mastering skills a fair bit, and finally got around to polishing this one up sufficiently. I think it has the cleanest sound of anything I've released so far. Also my most upbeat stuff so far. Hopefully you agree. No Soundcloud links for this one yet, but if you click on the album cover you'll go to the preview and full EP download page on my website. On the road again, see you Sunday.

Oh, hello website.

I've been busy... building and creating! There's a bunch of new tracks on my Soundcloud page, but more importantly, I'm done! The blog will continue, but all my original stuff will now go on the new website. The www prefix has been on and off for the past day, but it should stabilize soon. In the meantime, click on the pic have a look-see!

Bryan Raydio - Diseducated EP

I first put this one out more than two years ago, but I've remixed, remastered, and in parts completely re-written them so this is their first release in this incarnation. They've taken me the best part of 3 years to complete so the sound really isn't one I'm working with anymore, but here they are all the same.

The title track "Diseducated" features some classic lines from the 1976 movie "Network", and is a nearly 12 minute long adventure through all kinds of madness. More a techno feel to this one.

For those who have heard some of my earlier stuff, "Awaken" is a track I'd previously put online for some people, but I wasn't satisfied with it, so I've completely redone it, and it really doesn't sound anything like it did before. Get out your subwoofers for this one, it's a massive techy bass riff with some assorted funky percussion thrown in there, and some trippy psychedelic synths sandwiched in the middle.

"Starchaser" is a tribute, of sorts, to the late President John F. Kennedy, one of the great men of the 20th century. It features some poignant lines from this speech. This is a slower paced tune that builds near the end.

Bryan Raydio - Oscilliscape EP

Take three! After releasing this one about a month ago I found out afterwards that I didn't have enough juice in the mids and had to go back and re-master the tracks. Much struggle later, they're done. At least as far as I can take them right now. One day I'll get someone who knows what they're doing to do them properly, but this will do. You can preview and download the individual tracks from Soundcloud, or there's a link to the full EP at the end.

Bryan Raydio - Minimizer

Here's a couple tracks I finished up about a month or so ago. They've been hiding on my Soundcloud page. The first is just a quick little minimal house track I did and the second is a remix of a song by the Arka Teks. Should have another EP finished by the end of this week. Things is moving quick!

Bryan Raydio - Oscilliscape

...aaaand here's the "video" for the title track. It's a re-hash of the old one I posted a couple years ago, but I've switched the audio. Just there so I have it on YouTube. The second video is done, and I'll be uploading it in a bit, so it'll either be up here later tonight or by tomorrow morning.

Bryan Raydio - Oscilliscape EP

Let's try this again. I kinda released this one a couple years ago, but didn't like how it sounded and truth be told didn't really have a handle on the mixing and mastering side of things. After spending a lot of time learning new tricks and some proper skills, I think I'm a bit closer now. Enough to re-release this EP anyway. You can preview each track on Soundcloud, download the individual tracks from there, or download the whole EP from the link below. Enjoy.
