Michael Chapman - Trains

Now we need some guitar. This chap's a mere 73. I should start practicing.

Wally Krauss - It Might As Well Be Spring

It's an old-timey kind of day. Wally's 89 here. Here he is at 93. Still got it.

Dan Mangan & Blacksmith - Vessel

Not sure how I feel about this album. It's different. Some strong parts, some less so. Overall, not bad. Potential there for more collaboration in the future. Cool video anyway.

Hayden - Bad As They Seem

Kind of slightly sour about this one. Really wanted to post 'Trees Lounge' but for some dumb reason Hardwood Records doesn't want me to share their video with the world. Whatevs. Check out the link anyway. And watch this one too. Weirdos.

Seven Mary Three - Water's Edge

Only one yesterday, so let's make it a triple today. This one goes out to J-Ryze.

!!! - Ooo

Enough nostalgia. Let's get modern. These crazies are great live.

Barstool Prophets - Paranoia

Throwback Thursday? Sure, why not.

Stick In The Wheel - Champion

Keepin' it simple. Great little tune.

Junkhouse - Burned Out Car

Not sure why but I had this song in my head today. Tom Wilson is a massively underrated song writer. That's Sarah McLachlan on the backing vocals too.

Clutch - X-Ray Visions

Pretty excited to hear the new album. These guys kick ass.

Pearl Jam & Neil Young - Rockin' In The Free World

I'm running a little late today but I've just about made it! This might not be the best rendition of this song in existence, but it's pretty frickin' epic. 67 years young and the old fella's still given 'er. I also love the video concept. Bet all those videographers were wishing they were rockin out instead though.

Hiatus Kaiyote - Breathing Underwater

I did not know this existed before now. I KNOW.

Caribou - Back Home

Right. Looks like I'm back in a bit of a rhythm. Pretty similar to the music scene in 2015 I think. Slow start, but there's been some solid releases in the final quarter. Better late than never? Let's pick up the tempo slightly. Two songs a day for the next week?

Sounds like a plan, Stan.

Kill Chicago - The Grey

Live at the Recordery. This is Brad Perry and Evan Hanson's new spot. Groovy.

Friday, November 20, 2015

David Bowie - Blackstar

New album out in January. This is the first track. It's out there. Can't wait to hear more.

Cake - The Distance

Not sure why, but I really want some cake today.

The Tea Party - The Ocean At The End

Heard these guys were putting out a new album, and then somehow it completely passed me by. Seems like it did the same to most people. It's pretty decent actually, not as strong as their early stuff but to be fair it's hard to live up to perfection. This one is obviously very Pink Floyd. That's not a bad thing by any means.

andhim - Spayce

News from Paris is terrible. This post is just a brief distraction.

Missy Elliott - WTF

WTF? She's still alive? Ain't quite a classic, but it'll do.

Wednesday, November 11, 2015

Ian Thornley - Secrets

Aw, heck. This is a music blog. Here's some great music.

The Fallen of World War II

I'm back from a long sojourn and a week's recovery. Gotta make up for lost time. First, a little history lesson. Because it's that day.

Humans - Ennio

These guys are new to me. Thanks Shamos. I like this video.

Kill Chicago - Count To Ten

So it's been a while... but for good reason. I've been busy as hell. Tomorrow I fly to the UK - for a month. That will also be busy... but I'm feeling like I should get back into the swing of things, so I'll do my best. The unannounced sabbatical is over. Freddy Beach reprazent.

Newest Tarantino flick. Awww yissss.

Super Flu - Ooooooh

I've been busy as hell this month, hence the crappy posting schedule. Oh well. I'm off on the road for another week starting tomorrow, but might be able to fit a few chunes in. I hope so. I was gonna post another song but then I found out I'd already posted it, so ya. I guess these things happen when You've been posting stuff for five freakin' years. Soooo.... here's this groovy little number instead.

Hawksley Workman - We Will Still Need A Song

Busy busy busy busy busy. I posted the original video for this song almost five years ago, but this is such a great live version I thought it deserved a re-post.

DayMan vs NightMan

This soundtrack is perfect.

Timecop 1983 - Secrets

Just got this album. Haven't listened to it yet, but I'm looking forward to it. I put the space back in the name though, because it looks dumb without it.

Suicide Squad Trailer

So I don't really know anything about this movie. I read a few comics when I was young, but never any of these ones. Looks like it might not be terrible.

Laszlo - Cartoon Hero

Ask and ye shall receive! Ellen Pao has stepped down! Terrific. World changing? No. I won't jump back on the bandwagon yet, but it's a step in the right direction. Let's celebrate with some synth pop. The fizzy kind.

Coheed & Cambria - You Got Spirit, Kid

Cheer up old bean. Life goes on without Deaddit. This will work. New Coheed album coming out October 9!!! That is faaaantastic news. Here's the first track made public!

Thursday, July 2, 2015

Ronald Jenkees - Try The Bass

Hello YouTubes!!! It's been 2.5 years... so excited to see he's back!

Monday, June 29, 2015

Keith Hallett - Cattle Call

I had to drop out of Folly Fest this year. That sucked. Was really looking forward to jamming with everyone and seeing some great fellas on stage. Keith was there. I'm sure it was great. Next year I'm going to Folly damnit.

Serj Tankian & Khatchadour Tankian - Bari Arakeel

SoaD's lead singer with his dad singing an Armenian choon. Pretty cool.

Miguel Rivera - Beat It

This guy is awesome. Was gonna post a different song, but this one is the best quality.

Thursday, June 18, 2015

Keith Hallett - Take Sick And Die

This has nothing to do with Nina except that it's also awesome.

Zebra Katz & Leila - Nine Simone

...and some new song apparently inspired by her. Not sure.

Nina Simone - Mississippi Goddam

From her Live in Holland show, 1965. Watch it here.

New Horizons - Voyage to Pluto

We're damn close. Unreal. Bring it on galaxy!

Serious mango cutting skills

Watch it to the end. Trust me.

John Oliver drinks Bud

The man follows through. Although those 'bites' were more like nibbles. Close enough.

Apologies for the potato quality. Apparently it's the best we can do.

The Colbeard

Colbert's gettin' ready for his big move.

Ed Skrein - Reach Skrein

I'm still suffering trauma from Game of Thrones. Not so much what happened in the episode, I've read the books so I was mostly expecting it. But it's over. Again. Damnit. What to do on Sunday nights now? Here's the old Daario Naharis doing some rapping. I don't like the new Daario. He has no charisma. I wonder how long he'll last riding around with El Jorah Mormonto.

Jake The Dog - Bacon Pancakes

I've been away, then I got sick. I never get sick. Must be old age. Anyway, I guess I owe you about 10 hours of music. So... here ya go.

Wednesday, June 3, 2015

José González - Tony Desk Concert

Great suggestion Jenna. This is lovely.

1. Open Book
2. With The Ink Of A Ghost
3. Every Age

Lifelike - So Electric

It was nice out today and I got too much sun. I'll take it. Better than freezing. It's been years since I've posted anything Laurent Heinrich. Which is really a tragedy, because I'm a big fan of his work. Let's boogie down to some quality French disco.

Metallica - The Call Of Ktulu

I wasn't going to post anything because I thought Kung Fury deserved another day in the sun but what the heck, have some classic Metallica. The silent film is actually from 2005, made to look dated, and pretty cool. Now go watch Kung Fury again.

Luke Abbott - Amphis

A bit of the mad scientist vibe going on here. I enjoy his work, but do wonder if it's a bit excessively self indulgent at times. That said I'm not really sure where to draw the line. How many knobs and patches is ok before it's over the top? 10? 20? 50?

Sunday, May 24, 2015

Vulfpeck - Poinciana

This is wacky and weird and wonderful.

Chandelier - Nation Promo

This is Aaron Collier, of Jimmy Swift Band and Scientists of Sound fame. It's his latest project, and it looks dope as hell. Hope to be able to check it out soon.

Stannis the Mannis

And let's not forget the Mannis.

Peter Dinklage - Still Going Strong

It's almost time for another episode of Game of Thrones. Let's hope it's better than last week. At least we can still count on the Dinkles.

Röyksopp - Vision One

Another fan made video, using footage from Baraka. Pretty cool.

Mr. Oizo - Mass Doom

Pretty much the most official "unofficial" video I've ever seen. Pay this man.

The Dad Bod Is Worse Than Ebola

Not always into the BroScience, but this is a beauty.

Zero 7 - Last Light

A little liquid dnb bootleg mix by C41, to be precise. Just released a few hours ago!

Scuba - Why You Feel So Low

Technoooooo..... the new album is real good. WARNING: Flashy lights ahead!

Uffe - Valentines Card

Ok, since you asked nicely. Here's some chunes.

The Tesla Powerwall

Goddamnit Elon Musk, you've done it again. If he moves to Mars, I'm going with him. But wait, isn't this Saturday? Shouldn't I be posting music? Maybe later. Watch this first.

Ben E. King - Stand By Me

Probably a million people blogging this one today. Cheers to you sir.
