Aurora - Teardrop
There's a lot of covers out there of this one, probably the most famous trip hop track in existence. I like this version. Skip to about 1 min in to avoid the banter.

Lusine - Slow Motion
Big fan of Jeff McIlwain's work. Just came across this live performance, it's brilliant. That's Trent Moorman doing the funky stuff on the drums.

Luke Abbott - Amphis
A bit of the mad scientist vibe going on here. I enjoy his work, but do wonder if it's a bit excessively self indulgent at times. That said I'm not really sure where to draw the line. How many knobs and patches is ok before it's over the top? 10? 20? 50?

Portico - 101
This video makes me sad. I loved the last album by these guys, well, by their previous incarnation as Portico Quartet. Now they're just a threesome and they've lost a lot of creativity. The new album is just bland. They've added vocals and for me they just don't fit the vibe. I'm sure this will open their sound up to a new audience, but I think it's alienating a lot of their die-hard fans. Evolution? Devolution? Check it out, see what you think.

The Saturday Beat
It's Saturday, and that can mean only one thing. Beats! Awwwww yiss.
Dub? Trap? I'm bad with genres. Pretty funky whatever it is.
Now this is mad funky, almost worthy of a Friday. I wanted to post the actual link to this one but some marketing 'genius' decided I shouldn't be able to embed the track in a blog. Real smart pal, let's make it difficult to hype dope tunes. You deserve a raise.
Funky. Disco. House.
I love this remix. I used it in one of my mixes a year or so back.
We've had a good little dance party, so let's wind down with this killer chiller.

Now this is what I'm talkin' bout. Dope track, sick video, top notch. This is the work of Jeff McIlwain, and he is in his groove. A+, keep up the good work dude.

Pretty Lights - Lost And Found
This fella has drifted quite a ways from the trippy soulful grooves that got him big in the first place, lately opting for big-sounding electro dub. I really wasn't a fan of his last album, which is disappointing because I loved his older stuff. I guess we all have to evolve in our own ways and obviously somebody is really digging his new stuff, but I just ain't feelin' it. This is actually a b-side from the new album, and for me it's better than most (if not all) of the a-sides.

Helios - First Dream Called Ocean
It's Tuesday, it's late, we need some chill-out beats. This is the Stray remix of a great track by Keith Kenniff, a prolific ambient producer and musician extraordinaire. I highly recommend checking out all his stuff, especially if you're into thinking music.
