EDIT: This performance is no longer available because SONUMA has hijacked it from the public view on some lame-ass copyright claim.

Dave Brubeck - Take Five

I posted Al Jarreau's version of this a while back. This is the man himself performing in Belgium circa 1964 featuring the song's writer Paul Desmond on saxophone, Eugene Wright holding it down on the bass, and Joe Morello tearing it up on the drums.

Al Jarreau - Take Five

This came from a Cosmo Baker blog post. If you're into funk/soul/hip-hip grooves, I highly recommend checking him out. Al Jarreau is a prodigiously talented vocalist who known for soul and R&B, but whose scat talents are virtually unmatched. This is a Paul Desmond song made famous by Dave Brubeck in the early 60's, and in fact Jarreau and Brubeck performed the song together live in 1997, which you can watch here. This performance is from Germany in 1976, and it's pretty sensational.

Awesome.
