Chromeo - Juice

Big fan of the early stuff from these guys. I feel like they've drifted away from prime groovy in the last couple years, but this first single from the upcoming album is promising. Keep them juices flowin'.

Chromeo - Come Alive

So I've posted this song before, in its original version, but I had to re-post this version since it's so crazy. I mean really, a talkbox on a bed? Good enough.

Chromeo - Jealous (I Ain't With It)

Man I love these guys, but I'm having a hard time getting into their first couple singles from the upcoming release. They're just a little too... EDM sounding. Still lots of funk, it's just a little soft. Hoping the album will have a little more meat on it.

Chromeo - Come Alive

I've been busy, but I have a few minutes of breathing space to here's some new tunes. The first is from the new album coming out from these cats. I'm looking for to it, but I'm not really that impressed with this first single. A bit too flighty for my tastes, and Toro Y Moi doesn't really add anything in my opinion. Meh, have a look and see what you think. Maybe I'm just getting old.

Chromeo - Hot Mess

...and now on a lighter note... I was intending to go through the entire year without featuring artists more than once (bonus beats excepted), but the video for this just came out, and it just had to be posted. This is my favourite track off the new Chromeo album, and I've been rocking it for a couple weeks at the Phoenix now. The video is awesome too. Say no more.

Brilliant.

Daryl Hall & Chromeo - I Can't Go For That

First up, huge props to Andy Cotter, Rich Gloade, and Scotty Sampson for last night's show at the Wilser's Room. After six weeks on the road these guys came home and rocked out. Andrew Butler chimed in on some times with some slick guitar work too. They're at it once more tonight at the Snooty Fox, if you have the time I highly advise checking it out.

I stumbled upon this set the other day completely by random. I was looking for some new Chromeo stuff and found this beauty. Daryl Hall, of Hall & Oates fame, has a pretty cool little series called "Live From Daryl's House", where he brings in contemporary artists to jam with him at his house. It's a little hit and miss for me, but his collaboration with Chromeo is freakin' bang on. P-Thugg on the talkbox sounds so dope with Hall's soul harmonies... it's just awesome. You can check out the whole performance here. Anyone going to see them live together at Bonnaroo are in for a treat.

By the way that's the late Tom Wolk next to Dave 1. A great musician has left the world's stage.

Chromeo - Night By Night

What do you get when you mix soul, funk, disco, and bad '80s synth pop? Only the most awesome musical magicians to come out of Montreal since Oscar Peterson (with respect to A-Trak and Godspeed You Black Emperor). CHROMEO! These guys might sound like cheese, but it's actually new wave grood grod grats grawesome greasy gravy boat cheese. Seriously, these guys are ridiculous fun. You just can't help but get up and boogie with a smile on your face when you hear their tunes. It's been a while since their last album, but they're finally coming out with some new stuff this summer, and this is the first single from the album.

Hype.
