The Extremities - Check Your Led
Today's been kind of a damp squib so I'm gonna throw up some abnormal selections today. I'm not really much of a turntablist, that as scratching is not my forte, nor am I really an aficionado, but I can appreciate talent when I see it. This is a nifty mashup of Led Zeppelin and the Beastie Boys by a couple DJs named Fresh Kils and Uncle Fester. I think these guys practice.

Beastie Boys - Make Some Noise
Holy cheese and rice there's a new Beastie Boys video out, and a new album coming out on May 2nd! Big it up! So pumped... this new single is awesome, the video is wicked awesome, and I can't wait to listen to the album. These guys are all mid-40s now and still rockin' it, so there's hope for me yet. No more talk. Enjoy.

Alice In Chains - No Excuses
Shamos posted this sweet interview with Ad-Rock on his blog today so I was gonna post some Beasties, but alas, I already have. I don't really want any repeat headliners until the new year, so I'll just link to one of their badass songs here.
I missed yesterday because I was in hardcore recovery mode from Monday night, so today I thought I would post my favourite rock band. Well, depends on the day. Today they are. Layne Staley was THE man before he sadly overjuiced himself and called it a day. Alice In Chains have since been re-birthed with a new lead singer, and to be fair he's not too bad, but it's not quite the same. This is the song that first got me into them, taken from the best EP in hard rock history. Maybe music history. Maybe.

Alice In Chains - Again [Tattoo Of Pain Remix]
Back in business.

Beastie Boys - So What'cha Want
Thanks go to some crazy russian site for allowing me to post the video of the Beastie Boys kickin' it with this wiggity wack track from way back, Jack! The Beasties apparently don't appreciate video embedding, which makes pretty much no sense at all to me. In fact, most things don't make a lot of sense to me, but then I probably don't make much sense to anyone else. Enough sense, ch-check it out.

Shad - I Don't Like To
Moving on into Ontario we come to Shadrach Kabango, aka Shad. Born in Kenya, but raised in London, Ontario. He's now out west studying a masters degree, but still finds time to pop out albums and do some occasional touring around. This dude's been compared to K-Os and Common, but he reminds me of Kanye West. He performed at last year's Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival here in Fredericton, and he's the next contestant on Canadian Hip Hop week here on the blog.
Another good one here. You'll like it.
