The Flaming Lips & Edward Sharpe - Do You Realise

A hundred apologies! I've taken some time off as it's busy season here, and I've been working pretty hard on some new tunes. To make up for my days off here's the first of twelve great tunes to enjoy on this sunny Monday!

Alexander Ebert - A Million Years

Natalie posted this last night so I checked it out today, and actually it's not bad. Alexander Ebert is the lead singer from Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros (and before that Ima Robot) and this is his from his solo album, simply titled "Alexander". Unsurprisingly, it sounds and looks as though it is an extension of the band's work. While I find much of their work a little too "hippie" for my liking, this one has a certain folky calmness to it that make it a smooth, relaxing listen. Pretty wacky video too. See for yourself...

There's an interesting article about him here.

Edward Shape & The Magnetic Zeros - Desert Song

Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros are driving around somewhere, right now, in a big white school bus, looking for their next gig. Sounds a bit crazy, doesn't it, but that's what Alex Ebert, the former lead singer of Ima Robot, is doing with his new group. Ebert uses the alter ego Sharpe to tell his story of love and other weird things in their album "Up From Below", which is evidently being made into a full length feature "musical" called SALVO!. You've probably heard the "Home" single a few times by now, but I find it one of the least memorable tracks on the album which is pretty epic in nature. This is the first part of the musical. I'll link part two at the bottom of this post.

Here is part two. And this is pretty great too.
